Bill Murray 'shreds Ghostbusters 3 script'

Bill Murray has allegedly shredded his copy of the Ghostbusters 3 script.

The actor, who has shown reluctance to sign up for the third installment of the comedy franchise, reportedly returned the destroyed document to co-writers and original Ghostbusters stars Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.

Murray supposedly sent the screenplay back with a note that read: "No-one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts," according to the National Enquirer.

Studio Sony Pictures is said to be unwilling to make Ghostbusters 3 without Murray's involvement, while Sigourney Weaver admitted that she will not rejoin the cast unless the comedy star reprises his role as Peter Venkman.

Dan Aykroyd insisted in August that Ghostbusters 3 will get made with or without Murray.
Ghostbusters grossed $290 million on its original theatrical release in 1984 and spawned a sequel in 1989.
