Russell Brand is said to have refused Katy Perry's plea to save their marriage.
The singer reportedly begged the comedian to meet her in Los Angeles last week in a last-ditch attempt to rebuild the relationship.
Perry suggested the couple go through counselinginstead of getting divorced, but Brand told her that they should move on, the Sunday Mirror reports.
"Her girlfriends are apparently organizing a 'newly single' party for her but she doesn't really like the idea," a source told the paper.
"She has been quite down. She really thought she could sort it out with Russell.
"Even with the divorce papers being served she was convinced that a meeting could make him realize why they fell in love."
Brand filed for divorce from Perry back in December after 14 months of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences" for the split.
